Wheels of Success received $55 from Sharon Baillie and Chip Carter of Fox 13 who received it from Ryan Nece, whose foundation has given the sum to 60 individuals with the challenge to PAY IT FORWARD. Sound familiar? Ryan’s campaign has been named "The Power of Giving." We have accepted this community challenge in hope of turning our $55 into $20,000 to repair the 20 cars we’ll give away at our 4th Annual Labor Day Car Give-away.

We want to thank everyone who has helped us raise $15K to repair the 20 vehicles given out on Labor Day. One picture says it all ... YOU helped put this Labor Day smile on Recipient Lenore H.'s face as she drove her new-to-her wheels out of our parking lot. If you have been following our progress on our web site, you know that we still need to raise another $5K to cover repairs of those vehicles.

TAMPA (2009-09-07) The group of people who filtered into the parking lot of the Floriland Office Center in Tampa won't have to wait for the bus or bother their friends to get to work anymore. That's because they were handed the keys to cars of their own - for free.

While Labor Day may be a little special for everyone who gets an extra day off work, for one local woman it will be the beginning of a new life.

TAMPA - There are 20 new car owners on the roads of the Bay area today thanks to an organization that puts struggling, full-time workers behind the wheel of a donated used vehicle.

A local charity has managed to keep the wheels in motion for 20 Bay Area families this Labor Day.

Tampa, Florida - With vehicles lined up and balloons flying in the wind, the scene outside the Family Justice center in Tampa looked like a used car lot. But nothing's for sale here; these cars are freebies.

The parking lot of the Family Justice Center offices, where Wheels rents space, will be the site of the non-profit’s 20-car give-away on Monday, September 7th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. This is the fourth year that we will give out 20 vehicles to Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco County residents who are employed full-time and in need of transportation-related services to avoid joining the overflowing ranks of the unemployed in Tampa Bay. Included in this group of recipients will be the fourth teen whom Wheels has helped to age out of foster care with transportation the pilot program, Wheels to the Future, made possible by the generosity of The Eckerd Family Foundation, with assistance from the Tampa Rotary Club of Tampa.
